  1. Pets are the animals that live with us in our homes.
  2. There are lots of pets that you can have.
  3. The most popular pets in the United Kingdom are dogs,
  4. cats, rabbits, hamsters, fish and birds.
  5. Other pets that people can have are snakes, lizards, tortoises
  6. and parrots, but they aren't so popular.
  7. What pets do people have in your country?
  8. People have pets because they can play with them,
  9. go for a walk with them, hug and kiss them
  10. and do a lot of things with them.
  11. Pets are like friends or family for some people.
  12. They make a lot of people happy.
  13. In the United Kingdom, 50% of people have a pet,
  14. so there are a lot of pets in the country.
  15. There are 10 million dogs and 11 million cats.
  16. So there are more cats than dogs.
  17. When I was a child, I had a lot of pets.
  18. I had cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish
  19. and tortoises. Cats and dogs are my favourite pets.
  20. They are my favourite pets because they love their owners.
  21. I think that pets like fish, hamsters,
  22. lizards or snakes don't love you.
  23. They only love you because you give them food.
  24. You can play with cats and dogs,
  25. sleep with them, hug and kiss them
  26. and they like to be with you.
  27. Rabbits and guinea pigs are good pets
  28. because they are easy to look after.
  29. They can live outside or in your house in a cage.
  30. They are small pets and they are very fluffy and soft.
  31. They like playing, running and sleeping.
  32. They eat grass and vegetables.
  33. They are easy to look after
  34. because you don't need to walk them.
  35. Do you think that rabbits and guinea pigs are good pets?
  36. Snakes, lizards and other reptiles are more difficult to look after.
  37. When I was a child, I had an iguana and a tortoise.
  38. Reptiles need to be warm or hot, not cold.
  39. So it is more difficult to look after them.
  40. Also, some reptiles eat strange foods like insects
  41. or small animals like mice. I loved my iguana
  42. and my tortoise because they are amazing animals
  43. but I think that they are not the best pets
  44. because they don't give you love.
  45. Birds like parrots or budgies are good pets for some people
  46. because they like to play and sing.
  47. Sometimes they are noisy because they sing a lot
  48. and make a lot of noise.
  49. They are great pets if you have a garden.
  50. Finally, fish are popular pets because they are easy to look after.
  51. They are beautiful and they are relaxing to look at.
  52. When I was a child,
  53. I had a lot of fish
  54. in a fish tank in my bedroom.
  55. I loved my fish and I think
  56. that they are a great pet for children.
