  1. In my opinion, this is a really important topic
  2. because we should always try to learn new things in life.
  3. So first, why don't we talk about learning in school?
  4. The first place that you might think of
  5. when you think of learning is school.
  6. In the US, people usually start their first year of school
  7. when they're between 4 and 6 years old.
  8. From that point on, they have many classes
  9. and study many subjects until they finish high school.
  10. And then, of course, they can go to college if they want.
  11. So in total, this is a lot of learning.
  12. But do students really learn a lot during their education?
  13. I think it depends. Sometimes you learn a lot in your class
  14. and sometimes you don't learn much at all.
  15. I'm sure a lot of you have had this experience before.
  16. You take a class in high school
  17. and you're supposed to learn that subject
  18. but you don't remember much from that class when it's over.
  19. This could be because the teacher wasn't that good
  20. or maybe you weren't that interested in the class.
  21. This happened to me a lot.
  22. When I wasn't that interested in the subject,
  23. I just memorized the necessary information to pass the tests.
  24. Afterwards, I forgot all that information.
  25. However, when I had classes that I was interested in, I actually learned a lot.
  26. For example, in seventh grade,
  27. I had an English class that I loved.
  28. It was strange because most of my other classmates hated this class.
  29. The teacher focused a lot on grammar
  30. and we studied the structure of the English language in detail.
  31. I guess I'm not like most people because this actually fascinated me.
  32. I still remember a lot of the information
  33. that I learned in that class even
  34. though it was 16 years ago.
  35. I think this shows that our brain can learn a lot
  36. if it's engaged but it won't learn if it's not engaged.
  37. So how about learning in your job?
  38. Some people don't want to continue learning after they graduate from school.
  39. They might think that once they get a job, they're done learning.
  40. But we don't only learn in school,
  41. we have to learn throughout our career.
  42. This is important because if we don't continue learning,
  43. we can't stay up to date.
  44. This means that our knowledge and experience
  45. can't help us with current issues in our work.
  46. That's why we should always be looking to increase our knowledge even
  47. if it's not required.
  48. So how can we continue learning if we're not in school?
  49. Well, one way is to take
  50. courses to learn skills and get certifications.
  51. This can definitely help you in your career.
  52. But to be honest, you can learn without taking courses.
  53. You can use free resources like
  54. YouTube to learn all kinds of things.
  55. It's really simple, you just need
  56. to dedicate some time and attention to this.
  57. So, what are some things that could be useful to learn?
  58. Of course, you can learn languages,
  59. you can take courses to improve your soft skills
  60. like communication and leadership,
  61. or maybe you can read about some new trends
  62. in your field of work.
  63. You can choose to learn anything, really.
  64. You can learn things that aren't even related to your career
  65. if they're interesting for you. In the end, the important thing
  66. is to always be open to learning new things.
