- Calling all stargazers!
- Tonight marks the peak of the year's most popular meteor shower, the Perseids meteor shower.
- But you may have a hard time seeing it.
- The culprit? A full moon.
- Light from our lunar neighbor is expected to wash out the darkness,
- making it tougher to see meteors as they shoot through the sky at 37 miles per second.
- Still want to give it a shot?
- Scientists say your best bet is between 10 pm and the hours just before dawn.
- You can see the meteors with the naked eye, but...
- you want to bring a comfy chair and some patience.
- While you may be able to see up to 25 meteors per hour, there's no guarantee.
- And if you miss out, don't worry.
- NASA says another famous shower, the Geminids, will feature moon-free viewing in December.
