  2. For many people, learning to drive is important
  3. because the car is an important method of transportation in many places.
  4. Before learning to drive a car,
  5. it is important to understand the rules of the road.
  6. A beginning driver should already understand the many signs that are found along the roads.
  7. Also, the student driver should know the many rules about changing lanes,
  8. turning, stopping, and many other aspects of driving.
  9. In addition, the driver should be familiar with the way the car is operated;
  10. it is important to know how to use the lights,
  11. signals, brakes, accelerator, and steering wheel.
  12. When a person starts learning to drive, it may take some time to become skillful.
  13. It takes some practice to become an expert in driving a car.
  14. One must become familiar with steering, speeding up, and slowing down.
  15. At first, it is good to practice driving in a large open space,
  16. such as an empty parking lot.
  17. Here, one can practice without being a danger to anyone.
  18. When a person gains some skill in driving,
  19. it is then safe enough to practice driving on a road.
  20. Of course, a student driver must still be very careful.
  21. He or she should always have an expert driver in the car with him or her.
