  3. I'm ringing about the job I understand you have vacant.

  9. Well, if you want to ask about the job and then if we're both still interested,
  10. we could arrange for you to come for an interview.

  12. I'm afraid i missed the advert for the job but heard about it from a friend.
  13. That's no problem at all.
  14. What would you like to know?
  15. Well, um, what sort of work is it? Washing up?
  16. It's answering the phone.
  17. Oh, right, fine.
  18. And not waiting at table.
  19. That'd be good.
  20. And how many nights a week would it be?
  21. Well, we're really only busy at the weekend.
  22. So two nights?
  23. Three actually, so it would work out at twelve hours a week.

  25. It wouldn't interfere with my studies.

  27. Yes. First year Physics student.

  29. Um, and because I'm not an EU national, would I need a work permit?

  41. Yes. The nearest one would probably be just beside the library.

  43. And could I ask about the pay?
  44. We're offering £4.45 an hour.
  45. That's very good.
  46. My last job was £3.95 an hour.
  47. We feel it's pretty good and we also offer some good fringe benefits.
  48. Really?
  49. Well, we give you a free dinner, so you eat well.
  50. Right, better than hostel food!
  51. We certainly hope so!
  52. And we also offer extra pay for working on national holidays.
  53. Oh, that's a really good perk, isn't it?
  54. Yes, we think so.
  55. And then because of the difficulties of getting public transport,
  56. if you're working after 11 o'clock we drive you home.
  57. Oh, that's good to know.
  58. Well, we'd certainly be interested in inviting you for an interview, if you're still interested?
  59. Oh yes, certainly.
  60. Could I just also ask what qualities you're looking for?
  61. Well, for this particular job we want a clear voice, which you obviously do have!
