  3. How can I help you?
  4. I understand that the school organises... um, trips to different...
  5. Yes, we run five every month:
  6. three during weekends and two Wednesday afternoon trips.
  7. What sort of places?
  8. Well, obviously it varies,
  9. but always places of historical interest
  10. and also which offer a variety of shopping, because our students always ask about that...
  11. and then we go for ones where we know there are guided tours,
  12. because this gives a good focus for the visit.
  13. Do you travel far?
  14. Well, we're lucky here, obviously,
  15. because we're able to say that all our visits are less than three hours drive.
  16. How much do they cost?
  17. Again, it varies,
  18. between five and fifteen pounds a head, depending on distance.
  19. Oh, and we do offer to arrange special trips if, you know, there are more than twelve people.
  20. Oh right, I'll keep that in mind.
  21. And what are the times normally?
  22. We try to keep it pretty fixed so that, that students get to know the pattern.
  23. We leave at 8.30 a.m. and return at 6 p.m.
  24. We figure it's best to keep the day fairly short.
  25. Oh yes. And, um, how do we reserve a place?
  26. You sign your name on the notice board.
  27. Do you know where it is?
  28. Ah ha. I saw it this morning.
  29. And we do ask that you sign up three days in advance
  30. so we know we've got enough people interested to run it,
  31. and we can cancel if necessary, with full refund of course.
  32. That's fine, thanks.
  33. And what visits are planned for this term?
  34. Right, well, I'm afraid the schedule hasn't been printed out yet,
  35. but, uh... we have confirmed the dates and planned the optional extra visits
  36. which you can also book in advance if you want to.
  37. Oh that's all right.
  38. If you can just give some idea of the weekend ones
  39. so I can, you know, work out when to see friends, etcetera.
  40. Oh sure.
  41. Well, the first one is St Ives.
  42. That's on the 13th of February
  43. and we'll have only sixteen places available 'cos we're going by minibus.
  44. And that's a day in town with the optional extra of visiting the Hepworth Museum.
  45. Oh right... yeah... that sounds good.
  46. Then there's a London trip on the sixteenth of February
  47. and we'll be taking a medium-sized coach so there'll be 45 places on that,
  48. and, let's see, the optional extra is the Tower of London.
  49. Oh, I've already been there.
  50. After that there's Bristol on the 3rd of March.
  51. Where?
  52. Bristol...
  53. BRISTOL.
  54. Okay...
  55. That's in a different minibus with 18 places available,
  56. oh, and the optional extra is a visit to the S.S. Great Britain.
  57. Okay...
  58. We're going to Salisbury on the eighteenth of March
  59. and that's always a popular one because the optional extra is Stonehenge,
  60. so we're taking the large coach with fifty seats...
  61. Oh good.
  62. And then the last one is to Bath on the 23rd of March.
  63. Oh yes. Is Bath the Roman city?
  64. Yes, that's right,
  65. and that's in the sixteen-seater minibus.
  66. And where's the optional visit?
  67. It's to the American Museum - well worth a visit.
  68. Okay, well that's great, thanks for all that...
