  1. Hello and welcome to this podcast telling you about
  2. our annual business exhibition.
  3. This year, as always,
  4. it will be full of the very best speakers, features and innovations.
  5. Let me start by reading some feedback from James Craig,
  6. who has exhibited with us for the past two years.
  7. James says, I'm director of a company called TalkCon,
  8. which is an office phone system.
  9. The first year we exhibited,
  10. we had a stand in the business village
  11. where we made a lot of useful contacts.
  12. We also used the breakout area where people could sit down
  13. and relax and try out our products.
  14. And due to popular request, we used that again last year.
  15. Last year, we also sponsored the Innovative Business Connection Zone,
  16. where people could leave their contact details on a board
  17. to contact other companies, and that also effectively raised our corporate profile.
  18. We're hoping that in the coming exhibition,
  19. we'll also have a presence in the Digital Marketing Centre,
  20. which is clearly a key area for our company,
  21. and also maybe have our own TalkCon zone at some stage.
  22. The exhibitions open from 8am to 11pm and
  23. there's a range of special events for you
  24. to enjoy in the evening.
  25. As well as a unique chance to publicise your company,
  26. businesses who exhibit with us can claim discounts
  27. on a number of popular brands,
  28. including major high street fashion and jewellery outlets,
  29. as well as grocery chains.
  30. Discounts available range from 3.5% up to an amazing 15%,
  31. so you can save a lot of money.
  32. In fact, the average saving made by each exhibitor
  33. came to over £400.
  34. The scheme is available to every member of your organisation,
  35. so this is a benefit that really does
  36. have something for you all.
  37. Now let me tell you about some of our
  38. keynote speakers for this year's exhibition.
  39. Jim Clowry started off selling vegetables from a small plot,
  40. then opened a small café.
  41. Rather to his surprise, this became a bit of a sensation,
  42. and in a remarkably short time...
  43. He had opened an amazing 76 restaurants worldwide.
  44. He'll be telling you how it all happened
  45. and how it changed his life.
  46. David France will be giving an inspirational talk about how,
  47. as a business-minded teenager,
  48. he managed to set up his own company and
  49. even to be the first person under 18
  50. to get a business bank account.
  51. David's company has gone from strength to strength.
  52. but he isn't just interested in making money.
  53. He also makes regular donations to organisations helping those
  54. in need both in the UK and elsewhere in the world.
  55. Oliver Stanton was born and educated in the UK
  56. and then went to Malaysia where he set up
  57. a rubber wood furniture business.
  58. He then built log houses in the mountains in Japan
  59. before moving to Hong Kong to set up a digital marketing business.
  60. After that, he moved back to the UK with his wife,
  61. Sai Pin, and together they opened a Thai cafe.
  62. He'll be telling you about what he discovered during
  63. his travels around the world about business practices in different cultures.
  64. Francesca Heptonstall is a broadcaster and businesswoman who's known
  65. for her down-to-earth attitude.
  66. After winning a top job in a TV contest,
  67. she launched a number of online deal sites.
  68. Her main business interest is in technology,
  69. but she's also passionate about helping people gain employment
  70. and organises an annual jobs fair,
  71. so she'll be concentrating on this in her talk.
  72. Salman Khan is the chief executive of QBF Enterprises
  73. and has turned around this business from a major
  74. publishing business to one of the UK's largest digital marketing service providers.
  75. He'll be talking about the need for flexibility
  76. to cope with new directions in today's business world.
  77. Finally, Annie Craven is a consultant and coach who
  78. works with people to create lasting changes in their business and life.
  79. Her session will offer an interactive look at different
  80. obstacles in people's own lives, not just in business.
  81. She also looks at how you can overcome them.
  82. whether you're starting out in business
  83. or at the top of your game.
